instead of a fan to vent and mix the propane and oxygen, why not use a piston like the c-3 paintball marker. iknow it is a pump but it wouldn't be hard to make it semi auto.

Grumpy, that's probably the most practical suggestion yet.

Fire the gun. Shove the piston forward to push the gases out the barrel. Open a pressurized air line with the propane line plumbed into it with a needle valve (basically create a carburetor). Retract the piston. When the piston has fully retracted fire.

Might work OK for a fairly small chamber. For a large one you'll need a lot of force to move a piston that is big enough. The gun will bounce back and forth just form the motion of the piston. You might be able to get a small chamber to fire once a second without too much trouble. (Though you still need a chambering mechanism for the ammo.)

here is an animation of the c-3 it might help more to understand how it works. well can't post it, it says it's to large so here is link , just scroll down to the c-3.

don't see why you couldn't make it bigger, just use a low preasure air ram to cock it . at low enough pressure it could also be operated off of propane.

As a followup to the revolver....I've been kicking around a dual chamber idea that could conceivably be configured to be fueling one chamber while the other is prepared to shoot. I have no real details but it should be fairly doable albeit with a little complexity to make real semi capable.

i spose from what i am hearing, if i used my idea and made six more copies and had them rotating, i would have a gatling gun, and should work.
i know it's not as easy as that but you all know what im going on about

Or you could make a mechanism that has a piston in a tube sliding up and down, sucking fuel and oxygen in, and pumping it into your chamber every shot.
I plan to make a pump-action hybrid one day that would work a bit like that.

@robbo
If you would make such a gatling gun, it would be very awesome, but building such thing in reality will be harder.

yeah i do like the idea, but now it's looking at being bigger than i had hoped and i don't know if i can get away with it living at work hmmmmm
o well its gotta be tried and pics of the build will b posted, everyone shoud have one :D

starman i like the sounds of that, for a quicker fire rate i could have say 6 barrels doin this and would make things a bit easier if i used pistons ect as behind the rotating chambers i could have a ring thats 'on the wong' so as the con rods slide along it the pistons move in and out, if you see what i mean

About the piston idea:
Make sure the piston is secured REALLY good and do NOT stand behind such a gun.
If that thing comes popping out, its basically the same as standing in front of the device: it hurts like hell.
