Most spudrelated accidents are because of human error, not failing pressure rated parts.

Using material past their rating can be done within a reasonable range.

I´ve put 80 bar on 15 mm copper pipe supposed to be `rated`for 6 bar.

QEV´s are rated for about 10 bar, and they hold 60.veen the rubber pistons inside!

So a 15 bar rated vessel should be just fine at 12 dontcha think?

When pushing it to 12 bar, I am NOT exceeding any limits. Well okay, one, the 8 bar limit. But that is not a safety limit. Its a limit to increase lifetime and reliability of the machine because any higher then 8 bar is not needed.
Technically the thing should be able to handle 12 bar just fine.

Any engineer worth a damn will know that when a product is rated up to 12 bar, the product can handle 12 bar without any problems, and has been tested to do so.
The rating has a safety margin and it should not fail under the rating under normal use, as this is the responsibility of the manufacturer.

Could it be that the compressor puts out 8 bar max, áfter regulation?

That would indicate the tank normally holds more..

I said that in an earlyer post: The max pressure is not the failing pressure but the maximum out put pressure without any modifications

Too bad that is not the case:
There are two pressure gauges on:
One for the tank pressure and one for the regulated pressure.
And they go up to 12 bar, not 8. For some reason.

Only because a gauge has a limited pressure that does not mean that is the tanks failing pressure, this discussion is really pointless and i am amazed it carries on for so long!

I know the gauges have nothing to do with the tank, but I just wanted to notice that they are ALSO "rated" to 12 bar or more.

I think that my compressor could put out 12 bar. Safely.
