my goal was to make a pneumatic pellet pistol
1for under €30 that was
2easy to operate
3looked clean
4was accurate and above all
5could easily fire through cardboard and soda cans!
so did i succeed?
1cost gun
blowgun €4.95
valve €5.50
8mmOD barrel €2.70/meter
that's €13.15
2 to operate
connect pump
pump it up
put a projectile in the barrel
shove it down the barrel
faiah!
this can all be don in less then 30 seconds
3decide for yourself
4 at 5 meters i get a 3" grouping without sights, haven't put any on
5 at 200 psi, less then half the max power, it goes through 2 soda cans or 3 sheets of cardboard
sorry for any bad grammar, i'm 13 and dutch
it uses the space inside a blowgun between the inlet and the valve as chamber
it have got it to +- 470 psi without leaks, i know it can go higher but my pump only goes so far
it has a 5.7mmID barrel (just a little bigger then 0.22") glued in the outlet of the blowgun
so .22 gamo long distance and pro magnum fit perfectly in it
I use a SKS Suspensioneer shock pump with a scale of 0-360 psi to pump it up(although it can go to >450)

some firing

the whole charging, loading and firing sequence
pressure
lead pellets >100, best at 200-300
spitballs 30-150 best at 100, starts unfolding at >200

i made a slightly more ghetto version of this that involved taping the 8mm OD barrel into the blowgun they make pretty fun plinkers as they are quick to charge up and you get reasonable performance and accuracy.
I would say that you suceeded, you certainly made it cleaner than my ghetto version

Simple and effective, with a longer barrel you can make yourself a cane gun and lol @ the aiming fail hehe

Anybody notice how he made 2 of the same posts? I posted in one of them not long ago and now my post isn't there.
You can tell how awesome a cannon is by the pressure used.

sorry for the double post, i have no clue how that happened
@ali h and jsr
thanks
@twizi
don't know how thick the tin is, but it feels like 3-4 times thicker then a soda can
about the slingshot ammo
i believe slingshots and their ammo are illegal in the netherlands
and for the blowgun
i bought it at De Kijkshop, a dutch shop that sells anything from jewelry and phones to barbeques and fitness apparatus.

I have done that! only I actually put a small galvanized tank behind the blowgun, and used a longer barrel, then glued the whole thing to a small stock so I could aim it easier.
Me and my friend both made similar guns and spent a weekend at the cottage blasting cans and the like, they fired a .22 easily through a beer bottle, and flew well over 400 yards on a straight trajectory.
Also, if you want to use these to fire air soft, just attach the blowgun to the metal tube used to pack glow-sticks, it's a perfect fit!

You're going to have to back that up, what do you mean by straight trajectory, and how did you measure distance and gauge projectile impact?sputnick wrote:...and flew well over 400 yards on a straight trajectory.
well the distance across the lake there is about 400 yards, and sometimes when it was calm and quiet enough you could hear the pellets impacting a boat launch door or roof, ( not very often, but we fired hundreds of shots over the lake, and once in a while there would be an audible clack as it made contact with metal) This is of course at a 45 degree angle,
By straight trajectory, maybe that isn't the right word, but the pellets flew perfectly straight, they didn't tumble in flight making them fly strange directions, it was a very predictable flight path.

Where did you get a .22 barrel?
