hey guys this is my first burst disk, not sure if it will work because i have no pvc glue to put it together, watch the video it explains it, basically you push the barrel down and it punctures the burst disk.

and if you guys figure out what those other pics are ill give you 10000000 theoretical dollars, i swear they're real, and right from my back yard

Nice, um, foot....

Seriously, though. This will work. There have been several punctured burst disk designs, although I do not recall seeing one where the barrel does the puncturing. The biggest concern I see is the barrel flying off with the projectile when it is triggered.

As a matter of fact, Gort has put together one of the best punctured burst disks I've ever seen. It's called the Q-something.

Edit: It's called the QCTBDC - link

As far as the bottom pics, it looks like orange lights and streaks in the night sky. So, when can I expect my money?

Lower pics look like a launch of some sort. Given that the Shuttle went up a few days ago and the land in the bottom pic looks very flat, I'll guess that you live in Florida and the pics are only a couple days old.

edit: Seeing that you've labeled them as IBCM?? I now gather that YOU don't know what they are, that you weren't quizzing us. If so, it should be pretty easy... When were the pics taken? There are, after all, web pages that list every major launch in the world. Cross reference your location and the date and you should have your answer.

The pics are from the shuttle launch.

Also that should work fine at lower psi. Once you take it higher you risk your hand going with the barrel. What I would do is add two compression springs. A simple diagram but when you have the springs bolted in place all you'll do is pull the barrel forward a bit and then let go and it'll move back and pop the burst disk and the barrel won't fly out of place because it will be bolted down by the tension springs. 2 for 1 deal.

Flare the end of the barrel so that it is bigger then the hole the barrel slides in. Put an o-ring between the flared barrel and the screw on cap hole. That will keep the barrel from sliding out and should puncture the disk.

k thanks for that,

what is the best thing for a burst disk this size because, the tenfoil keeps tearing little holes in it while the cap is getting screwed on.

Painters tape, then use a knife to cut the excess around it.

I'm working onto something similair, except my design will hold the barrel by itself, which reduces the risk of barrel-being-the-ammo

You could try to put some duct tape on the inside piece of the barrel (the chamber side), so that the barrel will be hold in there by itself(ofcourse this isn't really safe, and only a temporarily solution, but you get the idea)
