Hi, about a week ago I was thinking about making a bolt-action air rifle but due to laws I have decided to go with a bb gun.
Picture 511 shows the whole of my setup.
Picture 507 shows my valve and my bolt-action setup, I have inserted the magazine - my problem is that this simple magazine feeds about 3bb's into the barell - I need just one. Any suggestions of magazines that feed just one bb at a time - im trying to avoid using any more solenoids.
508 shows magazine removed - it is 10mm wide.
509 shows what pushes the bb's into the barell
510 shows the bolt-action locked
The magazine needs to have a 8mm hole for the bolt-action plunger to be able to clear it, any smaller and I may wear the seal out fast.
Any questions feel free to ask

That looks really nice. What is it powered by? I'm guessing pneumatic because you said valve but I wasn't sure. Is the capacitor bank for opening the valve?
Life's too short to mark off the items on your wish list...

Yes the bank is for operating the valve, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2TGLXjDSQ9s this is my fist attempt - results werent too amazing but its a new type of valve that has never been done before.
And yes it is pneumatic, not sure what pressure though because my gauge is knackered (I think about 200psi).

I have a lathe and a milling machine, the only thing I truly designed was the valve, the bolt-action was a bit of trial and error.
Im 17, and saved all my money for a milling machine, bought a motorbike instead and then got given a brand new milling machine by someone who happened to see the lathe in my garage - he simple came up to me and said "do you want a milling machine". I would have never been able to do anything like this without one.

I had the same impression, I thought he was joking, then I realised he was serious I thought it would be a crappy machine.
He showed me around his company, showed me the machine I was getting and promised me a job after I have finished college. He owns a business making industrial seals so I suppose he can just throw money away.
I also got a load of tools with it - was the best day of my life

About a year ago my friends grandad died and he was a model machinist, my friend got offered an industrial lathe with about £1000 of tools (about $1600). The lathe was about 3ft between centres. for free. He declined it.
I almost cried, I asked him if I could have it or some tools from it - he kept making excuses up. I didnt get it.
I live in the UK, I wish gun laws werent so strict otherwise I would make a high powered air rifle.

haha I'll keep that in mind, its good to see someone witha sense of humor although it is true.
He gets all of his machines and stock from other countries because its cheaper to produce than over here.

Nice work joe and fantastic luck with getting your hands on those tools!
As to the magazine, have you though of fitting an o-ring to the port to keep BBs from spilling out on their own accord as soon as the bolt is retracted?

Finally the magazine
Im not quite sure how I would do that, could you give me some kind of diagram to what you are thinking.
The diagram attatched is basically my bolt-action setup. The port where the plunger goes is 6.8mm and the o-ring on the plunger is 7-7.5mm, edit this diagram to what you are suggesting.
The blue arrow is air
The magazine slot is 10mm
Thanks
