hybrid utilizing regular piston valve idea

Harness the power of precision mixtures of pressurized flammable vapor. Safety first! These are advanced potato guns - not for the beginner.

Well, the point of any launcher is to get the chamber pressure into the barrel. If the combustion of a hybrid causes your piston to move back, which opens the barrel, then why would you need the popoff in the first place?

It could help the flow a bit, the pressure behind the piston without a pop off may my pushing the piston too hard so it would probably be better the exhaust it.

exactly, the pop-off will allow the piston to open faster cause it will release the pressure behind the piston

I'm not sure if the pop-off would work properly in this situation, unless the piston is perfectly sealed and it can achieve the perfect pressure set for the pop-off (or higher) just by moving back, but I think it's worth putting there.

yeah it will work the added advantage of this over a simple piston valve hybrid is that you can vent the chamber as the valve stays in open position after shot

Yeah thats true, but it would probably vent slowly...

or you can just blow a little fresh air through it since this type of piston valve will stay open after firing the burnt gas will be replaced quickly

I have found that my piston hybrid leaves a very significant vacuum in the chamber after firing. This is because after the shot, the chamber is effectively at atmospheric pressure, but at a very high temperature. The valve closes, then the chamber gas cools.
