Copper Cloud
Hi there, I have looked around here a lot and i found that a "cloud" is easy to make and is very low maintenance and can be cheap.
these properties suit me well because i'm planning to build a few for me and my friends.
I will use copper piping and fittings for the chamber, hopup and the outside of the barrel, the inside of the barrel will be aluminium.
barrel id= 6mm
chamber id= 20mm
I will use a blowgun as valve.
I'm not sure about the air supply, i want something like a cola bottle, but better and still cheap.
Id like some input on this thanks.
it will not be regulated and it will be pumped up by a sports-pump.
I realize that it wont be able to shoot for long and it will not shoot consistent.
All this will be made into one (no backpack).
now i have a few questions (look at pics).
1. what configuration would suit me better, cloud 1 or 2?
2. Will the spring-plunger in (cloud1) be helpful or cause jams?
I will not make a vortex due to small id chamber, production time.

I don't think people use spring plungers on clouds, the bb's need room to actually fly around and make the "cloud". I say design one without the plunger, but why copper anyway? If it is for color, use PVC and paint it. Besides, you said you were going to use a pop bottle for a tank (which would be horrible) so you can't be using more than 100 psi, which makes copper absolutely pointless. Also I would say use a bigger chamber, 20mm sounds rather small, use like 1.5" or 40mm I think.

I'm preferring copper for the connections, availability and durability, Iamb not keen with seriously hurting my friends due to pvc shatter
Iamb not going to use a cola bottle this is just to let you know what dimensions i'm looking for. it has to have a volume of about 1L and take about 80 psi or more
yes the chamber is small but with copper its the largest that is available to me.
ok so cloud 1 without the plunger, thanks.

even at 120psi a bbmg only has around 20psi in the chamber at any one time, PVC works fine(1 " sch 40 is rated to 420psi), not to mention that copper is more expensive(if you are worried about cost PVC would be the better option), there is really no point in using it.coen4d wrote:I'm preferring copper for the connections, availability and durability, i'm not keen with seriously hurting my friends due to pvc shatter
.
PVC is sold at almost every hardware store world wide and its pretty cheap and i have used it for ever cannon i have built (i built about 5 pneumatics)

I can get gray pvc witch is used for draining rain water i can't find any pressure rating on them.
I can also get white pvc witch can't be glued, so i think this is other stuff than what you guys use also i cant find any pressure rating on this one to.

? you cant find a pressure rating on the white PVC and who the hell is saying you cant glue pvc!?
also the grey pipe is known as conduit pipe or ridged PVC and im using that on my hornet launcher at 50-80 psi and its fine

Its used for cold water plumbing here, it would be 25mm PVC there, BTB lives in the Netherlands, he would know where to get it there better than i would, though if its anything like the u.s. they should have it at your local hardware store.coen4d wrote:where is 1 " sch 40 normally used for? i life in the Netherlands so i don't know if we have the stuff. if it is available at my hardware store i could use this for a air resevoir?
well if i take one of the white pvc tubes and look for the pressure rating the only information i can find is that you cant glue it.
For as far as i know we use copper for our water and not pvc the only pressure rated pvc i know is for compressed air, but this is expensive and i will have to order.
