Well, the rifle bullets can be clamped in place as they are when loaded normally.
You could just clamp a bit harder and perhaps have a small Oring on the projectile just inside the neck of the casing.
Can't wait to see more prototypes, I can't wait to see a thread with pictures from Bovington either

I doubt he could make full bore holes like the ones in the Matilda, but a well designed sabot round from his project should make it through that thickness of steel. The Steyr AMR can certainly do it, from a relatively small bore.
There isn't anything like it where I live either, hence the beauty of travellingSpudFarm wrote:There isn't ANYTHING like that around here..

The thing is, Larda wouldn't have to think twice to make a hybrid the size of mine that operates at 300x.. And I am relatively sure that could punch a hole like thatI doubt he could make full bore holes like the ones in the Matilda.
The thing I hate most in the entire world would be planes.. Atleast huge ones that is to full of people and has a comfort so bad that even I can't sleep there..hence the beauty of travelling
I wouldn't mind if you bought me a Superhornet though
*I wish I could wake up tomorrow and have a look on spudfiles and find a nice video of a working hybrid cartrige*

I think it was Frankie Boyle that put it best, claiming he didn't travel because there's nowhere he wanted to visit so much that was worth being stuck in a tube full of other people's fartsSpudFarm wrote:The thing I hate most in the entire world would be planes.. Maybe in a couple of days time*I wish I could wake up tomorrow and have a look on spudfiles and find a nice video of a working hybrid cartrige*
Here's another pic from Bovington in the meantime, one Brian will surely appreciate - grenade launchers made from seriously sawn off lee-enfields!

That's.... AWESOME!!! hahaa sweet pictures.
the grenade launcher takes the cake though... Pretty interesting.
What size launch tube is that and what type of grenades did it use? do you know?
Upon further inspection just looks like a typical "cup " grenade launcher that typically fits on the end of the barrel, only with what looks like a 3" barrel instead of the standard length.

As far as I know they are 4" smoke grenades, fired by a bowden cable from inside the tank. Here's one in the background:
*ahem* anyway, seem to be getting side-tracked here, I'll try and make a separate Bovington/Duxford thread when I have time

With this quick filling device I posted a while back at the time of the community project thread, only the fuel is compressed and released then the chamber is topped up with regulated compressed air.
Of course a regular compressor could be used instead of a regulated tank.

It would doubtless work, but rather jars with my "keeping things simple" intentions.al-xg wrote:With this quick filling device I posted a while back at the time of the community project thread, only the fuel is compressed and released then the chamber is topped up with regulated compressed air.
In that regard, push-fit from an unmodified syringe is the way to go. My current thinking is with this design, using a dual seal, one for the syringe and one for the projectile. I'm also going to up the cartridge volume so there will be more energy available to pop the projectile out.
