Looks promissing, good to see you finally starting to explore hybrids!
When I think about it after seeing your mini I got an idea that might allow pretty quick burst disk change but still keep the small size.
I'll order some more brass pipes and see if I can mock something up.
I don't know if you saw my mini hybrid but I fired some .22lr bullets from a realistic barrel length at 5x and the projectile did penetrate quite deep into wood despite the low mix and short barrel.
A small hybrid at 20x should manage to provide the power of a .22 rifle.
If you rifle your barrel and add a sight you have a nice little plinker.
Good luck on all your future hybrids

HGDT suggests that 12-15X would be enough to match the power of .22lr
@CpTn_lAw
that will almost always work but is it really worth the effort ??
I don't know what do you think of it but something tells me that high mix smallbore hybrids are the future of spudguns

Absolutely, I would personally like to see a high mix big bore hybrid other then those I have seen though.I don't know what do you think of it but something tells me that high mix smallbore hybrids are the future of spudguns
A fridge compressor, a few hydraulic fittings and a sleeved brass barrel makes one FINE stock mounted rifle IMO.

Even though this is deviating from the thread, I'll contribute my $.02 briefly. I am curious to see how long it takes until people start building higher mix (10-15x) handheld hybrids. SB15 already fires his at 8x handheld, and that's with a galvanized iron gun.
What I'd like to do is machine a small chamber (1" Diameterx 3 or 4" length) out of steel designed to handle 15x comfortably enough that I would feel safe handfiring it.

Off topic you guys are
Well, I'll join in with one post:
When Larda was machining my hybrid chamber I decided to have a larger chamber instead of the 3"ID hydraulic tube sleeved in a slightly larger hydraulic tube. I started thinking about it and that chamber is absolutely perfect to make a 20x handheld hybrid.
And you know what he said when I asked for it? He has the same plans for it himself, that means it will probably be done by one of us sometime in the future:D

yeah, it is complicated but thx to the law of diminishing returns pneumatics are a dead end (well at least if you want MOAR powah.... and definitely if you want moar from a small bore launcher)I doubt it. Interest in hybrid launchers has seen its peaks over the years, but the technology is too complicated
a 12X hybrid can achieve the same power you can get with a 2000psi pneumatic (I know it is very general as I haven't mentioned the calibre, barrel length etc. but I hope you get the idea of)
Basically speaking to get 2 times the ME of a 600 psi gun I'd have to increase the pressure by 4 times. So I concluded that I might as well build a hybrid to get 4 times more power with a 15X mix
@spudfarm
I am more interested in his semi hybrid

Any progress? it's been a few days
as fer sealing it:
I'd think you can inset the epoxy holding the BB and tubing, and pour silicone into it, i make O rings and things from that stuff occasionally, using methods similar to this:

you could also use tire tube rubber or whatever you make piston seals out of

No progress at all because I've been completely ditracted by a new project, not strictly spudgun related and on that note, off to shower

My reply seems to have disappeared (had you got the PM I sent you before the great spudfiles collapse of 08/10?)
Ah well, previous project temporarily suspended for geographical reasons I'm giving the cartridges a break for now in order to work on the sentry gun BBMG as it's been languishing on the shelf for too long.

I am sure you can do both... you know, I am not talking about the hybrid catridge, right ? : Don the sentry gun BBMG

Any server problem where there's an almost perfect backup available is not a "great collapse".jackssmirkingrevenge wrote:My reply seems to have disappeared (had you got the PM I sent you before the great spudfiles collapse of 08/10?)
I've been on forums which had to be repopulated from the ground up following a server crash - and even then, on one of those sites, it took several weeks to get the site online again at all, so quite a lot of members were lost along the way (although most of the regulars stayed).
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?
