The reg is a Palmers Pursuit Stabilizer.

In the video it was running off my compressor at around 100psi. I was playing around with the regulator last night and found out just how wide a range it's capable of. I was able to regulate the pressure so low that the darts failed to leave the barrel, and even lower so that the cylinder could not even extend. Safety was a major concern and I'm glad to see this thing can be tuned very low.

This gun was meant to be carried on my back during a game called Humans Vs. Zombies. I carried it around just to test it and found that the safety ball valve I added was sticking into my back and causing sharp pain during running, so I relocated it to the right side where the regulator is. In this position, the ball valve can only be opened slightly. At lower pressures, this acts like a flow control and causes the cylinder to extend very slowly. This little flaw turned out to work in my favor because it ensures jam-free chambering. It does not affect firing at all, only loading.

So, if anyone's building a projectile-pusher style semi-auto and is experiencing jams, you might want to try adding a flow control at the air input to slow down your cylinder's forward stroke.

I chose sch40 PVC because it fits regular micro darts well, and this was important because everyone else I play with uses those and I'll always have a good supply available. It could easily be sleeved but I'm happy with this for now. Regular micro darts with the suction cups cut off are very accurate. The barrel is 20".

Looking good, not quite "tacticool" but I suppose nerf is nerf. Why not with a Lahti style spring loaded magazine?

Also, have you tried it out with some "proper" projectiles :D and how many shots per fill?

Yeah, tacticool was the original plan until I realized running around town with something realistic looking wasn't a good idea. Hence the duct tape.

I thought about a magazine fed version of the "projectile pusher" configuration a long time ago but it was too unreliable. Nerf darts are too soft and oddly shaped to load properly with this system.

So far only Nerf darts, and without a full tank I can't get a number of shots per fill just yet. It's been running off my compressor.

I'll try to convince you to make it tacticool.

What do you mean you aren't making it tacticool?

Seriously, wouldn't Nerf guns look better like this?

The reasoning behind brightly colored blasters is probably because NERF wars sometimes take place in public places where realistic blasters could scare people
