Sigh... I wish somebody would make a high-speed video of a gyrotourbillon. :(

Buy me one and I'll be more than happy to film it.

It's just one of those programs that tracks the pixels between two frames to create new frames and, seemingly, high speed footage. I doubt it would work for fast moving projectiles but could be cool for just slowing down a video of a cannon firing something.

Edit:

Oh it works best when the footage is shot at a minimum of 50fps. I was thinking of getting a 1080i HD GoPro that can shoot 60fps at 720p and selling my Casio Exilim FC100. The Exilim is good, but I would use the GoPro more.
Thats exactly the route I went last year - I got a 60fps 720p capable camera for sampling on twixtor. Its nice having the extra resolution - and something that you would usually shoot with the 120 or 240 setting on the Exilim is still fine with the 60fps and twixtor. Don't personally have anything uploaded atm, but this is the video that inspired me to go that route:

If you put alot of work into the traces - it turns out pretty well

Nice video ramses, I had a feeling Twixtor would behave like that. If I get around to buying a GoPro, Twixtor would best be used for mid-to-wide shots of a person firing the cannon or even some close-ups of the face/barrel/valve/recoil through the arms, etc.

Twixtor's all well and good, but my issue with it is that you're not getting any extra information... It smooths things out, yes, but really... it's hopeless for any sort of analysis or for finding out what happens between those 60 frames each second.

Indeed, it's definitely just for show.

I was driving by my neighbor's house yesterday with my high speed camera in hand, and he was doing some work on his septic tank, He asked me to toss him a can of spray paint so he could paint his fireplace... but he forgot to put out the fire! Here is a video of what chaos ensued!

Edit - One thing that I noticed after re-watching these a few times - check out how the pressure wave of the "flame ball" has an effect on the stream of smoke emitted from the fuse hole! Kinda cool how you can see it get distorted - almost like (this is a long stretch) the rocket streamers they used to send up to see the pressure front of a nuclear explosion.

Some cool high speed shots near the end. I think the Casio Exilim is best used at 420fps, if the light is good and target in focus correctly, than at 210fps or 1000fps.

Nice editing, but you need to work on your filming  I like the first version better :)

True, we can see you selling out much more clearly.

:D :D :D

Just kidding, great footage! And I love how you're deliberately shooting the furniture now ;)

That 30sec clip I made like last year? Completely forgot about that video, I would have incorporated some of the clips from it in the video if I had remembered.

Took me a good few hours to shoot the 12 or so high speeds, I wasn't in the mood to film anything particularly cinematic when I realised I didn't have any HD 24fps footage of the air gun at 6pm last night :)

Which leads me to this:

Me: "where do you find a fúcking target when you need one? Oh, here's a wardrobe, let's shoot that and hope it goes through" :D
