I'm interested in using shotshell wads as the basis for cheap, easy to make recreational darts. I've read on here that 12ga wads work in 3/4" sch40 PVC and 20ga work in 1/2". Can anyone put that in actual terms for me? I've found diameter charts but as always with these things, there's no substitute for manual test fitting. It'll be a while before I can get a hold of any 20ga wads... (my main interest).
Thanks!

I use 12 gauge ones in 3/4" type L (or was it M?). In any case: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gauge_%28b ... sion_guide

Thanks. I was able to find some more info on 20 gauge wads and they should suit my needs. Just to be sure I'll buy a case of every size.

something i can help with! lol i've actually done this a lot, i've found that i used some leftover 28 gauge wads in 1/2 sch 40 pipe pvc, worked awesome actually, im going to convert my old paintball barrel into a semi auto shot shell airsoft shot gun with this design actually. all u have to do is put a little scotch tape over the end of the wads, i used airsoft and metal bb's in it and it works great every time, though i found 6mm airsoft bb's take up alot of space and doesn't work quite rite do the fact that like 12 bbs go into a wad, im not sure about larger wads and different sized pipes, but i will say that i bought a different type of wads then the first ones i got and they didn't fit at all! but luckily i found that they fit into a sch 80 pvc 1/2, so it was all good lol you can buy em in bags of 500 at gander mountain, i could look up the model numbers of em specifically if your really interested
