my steel piston bb rifle

look out for my new piston rifle, which is under construction now. It is all steel, and the configuration is different than any thing that I know has been built so far. the piston is aluminium. It has a 3/8 inch barrel, a 1/4 inch barrel, and a 1/2 inch barrel. for now, the valve has 1/4 inch porting. the piston valve, and chamber are 1 inch steel, though, so It has a healthy chamber to barrel ratio. the gun has cost me absolutely nothing so far, because my grandpa has a huge bucket of steel parts, up to 3 inch tees, made for plumbing, and pneumatics, that I found out about recently. I am looking for very high fps. the tee is made for pneumatics specifically. I might be going to use co2 with this. for a small piston like this, do you think I need a spring?. so keep an eye out. I am going to enter it in the contest.

I am looking to give BTB some competition, but not looking to replicate anything he's done so far.

at one time I actually made another small pneumatic. it was a four foot long paintball sniper, of which I only have one or two pics. It had an aluminum stock, shaped like an I beam, but with ridges on the sides. It fit 1 inch PVC in the bottom, and 34 on the top perfectly. I made copper battery trays, and bolted them to the bottom of the track, in front of and behind the handle. the handle was a molded drill trigger with handle, cut off an old drill, that fit inside the shower track, and was bolted on. there was a piece of air hose leading from one chamber to the next, and this formed the handle guard. It had a bi pod, that assembled and shaped on in seconds. the barrel was curved slightly up at the back, where it attached to the valve to give the ball topspin for accuracy. It also had a scope. It also had a co2 regulator, so I could use it for paintball. sadly, I ended up taking it apart because my dad did not like it very much because I was not using gun safety when he saw me using it (I was). Oh, did I mention the breech loader cut into the side of the stock? It could also slide back, and magazines could be inserted. very VERY FUN GUN!

sure, once I find them. one is me showing people on my birthday , the other is.... I forgot what the other is but anyway, they are actual photos, but I will scan them. the shower track recently became part of a friend's harpoon gun.

You can custom make a spring out of piano wire. Or you can make it out of normal wire depending on how strong you want it to be.

A spring would help but you only really need one if you are filling from the chamber side. You can get springs from a hardwear store.

okay, thanks, that is what I was hoping.

oh, yeah, and I got it working! but, like demon's gun (at first), it needs a little tuning. It shoots, but the piston needs to slide better. a little more air goes out the piston venting blowgun than the barrel, hence the piston needs to slide better. I added a gauge, and added a ten inch long chamber. I will get pics up in a new thread sometime this week.

UPDATE: I got it working!! extremely powerful. with co2 at 400 psi, I cant imagine how powerful it's going to be!!

I will to. I have been building the last three days. Got a Marble barrel, a breech-loader, the gun is gonne use reloadable shells, and it is al metal. It has a fortification over the breech, what makes it look a bot like the sight of an M16. It was not ment that way though. It's my first gun, nearly finniched after twee weeks of research here on the forum and other sites.

I just need some parts for the valve now. It'll be a piston valve.

It will be a breechloaded, shellusing, pistonvalve gun with stock and silencer.

POS, Thats a bit much for a first gun I thought I could build a real good Gun on my first try but it really pays to have some basic experience,piston valves are hard to make .

piston valves are very easy to make i think, much more than modding a sprinkler!! with pistons, you find all the materials, you have a higher pressure rating (or pressure security) if by "hard to make" you wanna say it's hard to mesure right, and cut right...............well, in that case you know what I mean
