could this possibly be used as an alternative to a sprinker valve?

yes if it is a valve. be careful thoes usualy have a very small orfice. my 3/8 inch one has an 1/8"orfice

A SPRINKLER VALVE IS CHEAPER ANYWAY

the ebay seller says its a valve, but i can only see one port for the air to go in

the only reason i was considering it over a sprinkler valve was cause its rated at 145psi and metal, versus a plastic valve that could easily break

also it says quick dump, so im thinkin fast discharge

It might be more eficient (sp?) then a sprinkler, but I'm not entierly sure. And if it is, I'd still much rather use a piston, or a sprinkler valve. I mean c'mon! That thing is huge!!!
