Keith's PL 2100 Tennis Ball Shooter
Hey everybody, check out my new pneumatic cannon and let me know what you think. Thanks!
Specifications:
Name: PL 2100 (Pneumatic Launcher)
Setup: Over-Under Style
Chamber: 18”x 3” PVC, 2143.78 cc
Barrel: 26”x 2.5 PVC
C:B Ratio: 1.07:1
Fuel: Air Compressor when at home, or Bike pump when mobile
Actuation: Airgun modified 1” sprinkler valve
Ammunition: Tennis Balls
Modifications: Airgun modded 1” sprinkler valve, Custom built trigger handle with slots to fit snugly onto sprinkler valve cover, Interchangeable barrel ability, Interchangeable chamber ability, Straight style setup ability if U-Piece is removed, custom built chamber support block, two shraeder valves (one on the bottom and one on the left), 0-100 P.S.I. pressure guage, Black krylon fusion paint job.
Comments: This is a really fun gun to play around with. I call it my “party shotgun.” I like making a slit in tennis balls and filling them up with caulking, let it dry for a few days at the slit, and then launch it- makes a nasty mess when it hits a wall or something. It’s just a basic design- my first pneumatic cannon. Very sturdy construction, no loose or wiggling pieces.

Nice cannon! Despite my barrels for aerodynamically better ammunition, I still love to shoot tennis balls!
What kind of distance do you get with water-filled tennis balls? Have you tried water-filled yet, (they go farther)?
Just a little suggestion for next time. Whenever you have a large-diameter barrel, try making a piston valve! They're cheaper and work a helluva lot better for larger diameter barrels. Remember, for a 1" modded sprinkler valve, the flow is equivalent to that of about a 9/16" hole. For a piston valve, you can practically make one with flow equivalent to a 3" hole.
But nice cannon anyway! You still wouldn't want to be caught on the receiving end of one of that cannon's serve!

iv always thorght having a small pipe from chamber to a bigger barel would severly restrict the air flow and reduce peformance
anyway a very clean and kool cannon

Lovely! I like it, I just do. It reminds me of somthing...

Mark, i haven't tried water filled tennis balls yet but how do i do that? cut it and then fill with water and glue the opening shut? Sounds fun though. I love shooting balls filled with caulking, they're soo messy. Ya if i upgrade this cannon someday then a piston valve would be my next thing to do, this is my first pneumatic bye the way. Would a piston valve dramatically increase my gun's power? And Experament, The chamber is 3" and the barrel is 2.5" diameter, so i am going from a larger chamber to a smaller barrel. If you read up above at the specifications, my chamber to barrel ratio is 1.07:1. I know, i know, it used to be 1.5:1 but it just took too long to pump up the chamber to 100 p.s.i. when i was out just with a bike pump. I guess if i made a piston valve for this gun i might as well just get an onboard CO2 injection system too for convenience. I have a couple paintball tanks i could put to good use. Any other suggestions? I need feedback cuz i'm new at the pneumatic stuff. thanks.
nice job overall. i really like how you built the blowgun right into a handle on the valve. im tempted to try that on my own cannon. you did a very clean job, keep up the good work mate!

to fill a tennis ball with water just go to a pet shop and get a syringe. Stick the needle in the tennis ball and just keep refilling it.
Sweet! That's awsome, I wonder what kinda Damage you can do with that?

where can you get 2.5"pvc other than the internet?
It is fairly rare, ive never been able to find any. The internet isnt a bad place to get t though if you buy other exotic plumming parts. even if you did find some at a harware store, fittings for it would be nearly impossible to find.rednecktatertosser wrote:where can you get 2.5"pvc other than the internet?
"physics, gravity, and law enforcement are the only things that prevent me from operating at my full potential" - not sure, but i like the quote
