Fixed her...
paint is all danged up now but that is an easy fix.
At least she's back together without me having to replace any vital parts.
This means I can use the material I have for another one.
I've got most of the parts I'll need and I'm sure I can scavenge the rest.
I got a new welder last weekend...so I have the option to make one like it...but better..
Probably one that is able to use higher pressure, like unregged CO2...and I'm really tempted to go for a bigger bore..
I've calculated that a 16mm ID will give me just below 1:1 chamber to barrel.
Should be more than enough at 900 psi..???
Maybe that 'll raise some interest at the gunrange..
Pretty sure they won't be expecting a homemade airgun to rival what they got..
The hammer will hit a lever wich will push the hammervalve with more force, less travel.
I'll need the leverage to overcome the tremendous forces on the pilotvalve.

Why not use a balanced hammer valve?The hammer will hit a lever wich will push the hammervalve with more force, less travel.

Even with a lever it still seems it would take a gargantuan amount of force to open, it takes a big ass hammer to open a schrader at 850 psi, and those things have a teeny valve stem.

To be honest, trying to force-multiply a hammer by using a lever sounds counter-productive.
A hammer produces its high forces because it applies its energy/momentum over a very short distance/time, but imperfect fulcrums and elastic/plastic deformation in the lever/mountings are just going to "soften" that impact.
I'm almost certain levers won't work. I'm content to be proven wrong if we can find any cases in serious engineering where such an idea is used, but my bet is that you either need to beef up the hammer (more energy or a harder hammer/target) or balance the valve.

Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?
How exactly did you construct the "lock"? if I'm looking at it right, the energy of the hammer falling is actuating the hammer valve. I don't have access to a lot of tools and I'd rather modify a lock (I have one in mind) than construct one from scratch.

But I guess you've missed the whole point of a hammervalve piloted QEV...as you described it in the wiki as being a hammervalve gun...??

A regular CO2 pistol, like say, a Crosman manages to pull it off.
The valvestem it hit rather than pushed.
As it is only meant to pilot a bigger pistonvalve, teeny will do.

Goodness, I don't know where I've been this entire time but that is beautiful. I always enjoy builds by Brian! Great job on this one, it's definitely a favorite of mine.

I case-hardened the hammer and lockplate...no need to worry about wear...and it looks killer!!!
The barrel assembly has been shortened by about 1.5 inch...I needed to start fresh on the pilothole as I couldn't fix it leaking...
Certainly makes it look even more like a blunderbuss...
I also replaced the hammervalve by a counterbalanced one...giving it the potential to pilot at much higher pressures
Next on my list is...some more case-hardened parts....and a 1/2"barrel to replace the 8mm one..
The wood needs to be refinished...I had to open her up completely...So the split in the buttstock is now visible..will fill that in..

I found this one an was really amazed. But its from 3 years ago, where is the finall product?? Looks really nice an Im thinking about building someting like this. Do you have any tips an how do you fill the air chamber.

Im going to make something like this but I cant quit understand how you made the hammervalve fit to the barrle an the chamber. Il read it agian just in case.
