I can say first hand that these valves are amazing, the golf balls are out of sight in the blink of an eye. It tears tennis balls to shreds, too. This thing is a beast of a valve, and iI already have one on the way. (haha I live by him so no waiting or shipping!)
I wish I had a better signature...

I can now declare this valve officially ready for official testing. I have made the final modification and it now can pilot with anything down to a 1/8" opening. Blowguns unfortunately do not work, but who in their right mind can expect a blowgun to actuate even a 1" diameter piston, let alone one with a 2.3" diameter.
So anyways, it fills fast, allows no backflow to the pilot from the chamber with the new check valve installed. The piston is fully servicable down to the internal check valve. The whole valve seals every time. And it kicks serious ass. I feel like I own the world when I hold the valve. I want to go as far as saying "if you are a serious spudder, you need to own this" but saying that would make me cocky so I wont. Oh wait...
So here are some more pictures. The first two are of what the first prototype did to a tennis ball and a 3/4" plywood board. The next is of what the valve does to stumps with golf balls.

This is what I have been using for "shop tests". Since I have relocated my building space to my workplace where there is a much cleaner environment than a shed and more and better tools, I need something that will work to test valves that doesn't make too much noise or power. The chamber on this is a whopping 18 ci including the chamber volume in the tee. The barrel is about 16" of SDR. I bulit a trap for projectiles in case I feel like shooting stuff. This setup is more powerful than sprinkler valves guns I've shot with much much larger chambers and barrels. It gives a 10 second hangtime. Remember, 18 ci chamber.

The pilot you see on there is a 1/4" 3 way ball valve (smaller diameter than standard 1/4" ball valves). There is a male QD on the pipe nipple where the compressor hooks up to. Turn the arm to the QD and it fills. Turn it the other way and the pilot dumps. It will pilot through the QD too if the hose is disconnected.
So what do you guys think?

sgort87, do you have plans for this valve? If you do, how do I go about getting them from you? I have been wanting to make a big valve like this for a while, but I cannot seem to figure it out. Please let me know if you can help.

I apologize because I can not give you plans for my valves. There are a few reasons.
One is I'm lazy. To make an accurate plan would take me some time that I do not have because there are some fine details that are difficult to explain.
Another reason is because Most of the parts that I use are very very hard to find. For me it is extremely easy but for just about everybody else it would take them forever and cost them a lot for just one valve. I use an odd pipe type that costs $60 for a 20 foot stick.
Yet another reason for this is you most likely do not have the appropriate tools to assemble this valve. A lathe is a crucial part of the construction. Without it this valve is almost impossible to build.
Even if you do have access to the parts and the tools I still could not give you plans because most importantly, I plan to sell these and by releasing plans, I release my secrets and the valve is no longer a mystery and could lead to people thinking it is some easy thing to put together. I just make it look easy.
Don't take me the wrong way here though. I am absolutely thrilled that you and the rest are so interested in the valve but I must politely decline your request of releasing the design. If you would like have a Mauler Valve though, I would be more than delighted to put you on the "Mauler interest list". I could contact you about cost and other details about the valve. Just let me know here, PM, or email me Thanks.

what do you use as a plug, the piece that has the pilot vent hole in it (sorry if it's hard to understand, I'm tired)? I have never seen a piece like that before.

The back cap is made from a 2.5" plug that I lathe the hex and the markings off and cut shorter. It then gets an o-ring put on it and a hole drilled and tapped for the pilot.
The valve has full 2" porting. The piston diameter is 2.3" diameter. Pilot volume is 4.5 ci. Crony results against the Supah, 1" sprinkler, and a 1.5" QEV are coming soon when I send one of these valves to Mr. Plow from Spudtech (NeoSpud on here).

I respect your desision for keeping the inards a secret. I would give them away either if i was going to sell them I am really impressed with the performance of this valve! Was the stump rotten or hard?

The pistons are made from PVC fittings. More specifically, mainly a 1.5" cap. The hollow body makes it light. The back of the piston is plugged to reduce pilot space.
Funny you ask about the log. Spudstuff asked the same thing on Spudtech a couple hours ago. It is old and dried out but I wouldn't say it is rotting. It's kinda in the between stage but I still think it's impressive. It rips the bark off live trees easy though.

Okay, well it is sent off for testing. Hopefully it can be tested soon but he said he's not sure when there will be a chance to get out and do it. It's pretty time-involved so I can't blame him.
