Yes but I can't trust everyone with them, and I don't want to provide support for when F them up or can't follow directions.
Yes, I am the guy that owns & operates SpudFiles (along with our extremely helpful moderators).

Its sometimes like that around here people attack you for no reason usually there is a reason they want your beer etc.Just bust them up,has always worked for me they then seem alot more nuetral(sp) around you and towards you.

I used to talk to my friends about spudguns and a heap of them all ask me to build them for them give me like $80 and i get me to build one,but alot of people are to stupid and wil do stupid things with them so i would rather not be liable if they shoot some one with one or cause damage to property.

I was mugged when I was 18 or something.A guy drove up in a car , got out and asked me for directions.
All of a sudden, the guy put a knife to my heart and told me to give him my wallet  .I did..I had only 5 bucks in it,
I didn't think it was worth the trouble.

He got back into the car so i stepped up to the driver's side window and told him to keep the money but give me back the rest..
Amazingly he did.
He said "here..sorry"
I told him I would like him to die in an awful way  ... and he drove off..
The car was stolen so they never cought him..

I wasn't all that shook up...but LATER I was!!

I bought one of those foldable saws  they use for sawing off branches..A REALLY BIG ONE!! :D and kept it one me like a knife...I could wip it open with one hand and it would lock.I even sharpened the tip that has no teeth.

One night some dude approached me from the front...I passed him and he suddenly turned around and started following me..I took some strange turns, to see if I was mistaken, but he kept coming...He gained on me so I was like..Oh Shhh..  not again.
When he was close enough I wipped the saw open and put the tip on his throat..
He startled a bit but still kept a "tony montana"kind of attitude
"you wanna kill me??"( Yes in English!!)
so I said ..."depends on you!" he backed up and took off in yet another direction ( so yes he was up to something) and went over to some people at a cash machine.

Also one night ( I looked like a metalhead and seemed to attract bulleys) 4 guys started to follow me and my two friends and where talking all tough like "we're gonna f. you up" and I heard one of them playing with a stilletto behind our backs.Shkk-shhukk...shhkk shhuck you know..

So I pulled out the old saw and showed it to em like.."whattt?? 8) "
They were scared sh..ttless and backed up..

Later I thought about the whole incident and got rid of the saw/knife thing.
Carrying a weapon changes you.
It sure as hell doesn't make you feel any safer.
It just makes you jumpy..

Yes, invest in a taser, but once they know you got one, there prob gonna get a weapon of there own, thats gonna hurt a lot more than a taser.

I dont have these problems, most likely because of my size, 6'6, 250lbs.

Maybe you can get a dog? like a Bull Mastiff, and name him killer, but make him really nice, i guarentee they wont mess with you if your walking a full grown bull mastiff, they usually get up around 150lbs, plenty big.

I would just get a ninja keyring : http://www.force-ten.com/images/products/bigpics/nk.jpg
They are one of my favourite weapons, completely pure evil. They are mainly used for pressure points but you could use them for gouging, raking, stabbing, breaking bones, locks, slashing, punching, mainly because they cause massive amounts of pain. They are consealable and they don't look threatening. I have to make myself one. :D
Forever dreaming...

Guys, I'm sorry to point it out, but a regular stun gun-type taser has a range of about... 6 inches. Not very useful if your opponent has a knife or any other ranged weapon. A ninja key chain like that is pretty useful in hand-to-hand-combat, but that's it.

Your best bet is a can of police-grade mace foam. It sprays a thick foam 15 or 20 feet, burns like HELL on contact (I've been sprayed with it. Trust me, unless your opponent is on major drugs, it's going to stop him cold). Get the stuff that's 15% capsaicin minimum, more capsaicin = more burning on contact.

I carry a big knife, not unlike BTB. The sheer intimidation factor of whooping out a huge blade is enough to make almost anyone think twice. I've had to draw my knife a few times but never had to use it.

Peace,
Pete Zaria.

I carry a knife; it’s just a cheep china-stainless Winchester knife. hope I never have to use it. Brain that saw thing had to look wicked!
Tasers, pepper spray, and knives only work half the time. A Colt .45 Peacemaker works all the time!
So… why are we talking about weapons? not that I got a problem but…

I was assuming that ProfessorAmadeus is either too young to legally carry a gun, or can't get one.
Otherwise, I'd recommend a .357 revolver. Never jams (EVER, unlike any semi-auto in existence), accurate as hell, and a .357 hollow point packs more of a punch than a .45. I dunno, call me old fashioned, but I love six-shooters.
But even beyond that, the opportunities to legally use a gun in self defense are getting rarer and rarer every day. From a judge's point of view, unless there was absolutely zero doubt that you HAD to kill your assailant or he was going to kill you, you'll probably end up in jail.
That's why I'd still recommend police-grade mace foam over packing a gun.
I keep a gun (mossberg 12 gauge pump) around for home defense, because the laws about self-defense on your own property are quite different. Here, anyway, if someone breaks into your home and they have a weapon, you can legally kill them. But out-and-about (on the street, in public, in a store, etc...), if you shoot someone in legal defense, unless you can 100% prove to the judge that you had to do it, you'll end up in jail.

Peace,
Pete Zaria.

I have been beaten up 3 times all in the space of a year when i was 17
first time i got hit in the head with the bottom of a full beer can they thought i was someone else. I have a dint in my head now - but it swelled up in a perfect circle when it happened, I had delayed concusion and spent the day in hospital.

The second time eight guys broke into a mates flat, they were trying to rape a girl we knew and she ran to us, i got head butted and kick to the ground and stamped on i was fine but the two left in the flat had everything you can think of hit at them. kettle with boiling water stereo system chairs and kitchen knives. one guyed had a bottle smashed over his head blood was everywhere all up the walls and floor and on the furniture, they had to move out it the place was wrecked.

And the third time, we were walking through a park and about 15 teenages stopped and asked for a ciggy then just started for no reason. I had one guy hold me while another repeatedly punched me in the jaw - i had internal bleeding and a cracked jaw - i was lucky my mate got hit over the head with a wooden mallet and needed the hospital it was a pretty bad cut. although he did get £1500 in compensation. The cheek of it was the guy that hit my mate came upto me about a month later and asked me why we went to the police because his mum had thrown him out because of all the trouble he got into. I said like I give a flying F... maybe you should'nt have hit everyone?? Duh!!!!!

1st, our whole country's law says yo can kill in self defense, and why would you want to kill someone? just for the fun of it, and say they were going to beat you to death?im suprised that anyone on this forum would even consider somethiong like that. people who carry a gun arent looking for any excuse to "bust a cap" in someone, they are smart enough to realize that the world is an unfriendly place, and the need to be prepared that in the off chance that they get mugged, or threatened, or they are in a conivenence store that is being stuck up, they have the opprunitunity to defend themselves.
in the upcoming presidential election, there will be several candidates who will be running, one of whom is Hillary Clinton. Now WAIT A SECOND!!! I though there was some sort of rule that prevented someone from serving more than two terms in office. Vote Against Hillary: Presidential Elections 08
