Oh and speaking of fire, has anyone noticed my avtatar? Some people from Popular Science had some sodium in the bowl, and they added chlorine gas from the tank. They lit it, and the smoke is sodium chloride, or salt. They were trying to salt a bag of popcorn, which melted and exploded. Notice how the smoke is "Flying Salt"...

not bad guys. what i love to do for cheap thrills and if i have ballons on hand is us a nail of matchstick (with the phosphorus head taken off!!) and put in in the valve of a propane tank then put the ballon over the nipple and press down on the matchstick, pushing the valve open and filling the ballon full of propane or gas of your choice. like acetylene

have any of you tried caping off the bottles before igniting the fuels causing the bottel to explode?

wait i dont think that would work with hairspray or propane though becasuse you wouldnt get enof pressure...

maybe not?

has anyone tried that?

You know what works quite well?
Fill a large ballon with half oxegin and half acetylene and tye it off with a 3 foot peice of firework fuse inside it about an inch. Attach this to a helium filled ballon. Put on ear protection, light the fuse, let it fly, and run like hell!!!

Yes but not when it explodes in your face and you get your head blown off. Dont try this anyone it Will kill you. What me did with the bottles wont kill you because there is almost zero pressure gain.

Yeah, but the bottle starts to melt...
The best way to do the balloon thing is drop some metal in a jar of acid, and put a balloon over it so it catches the stuff bubbling up. Tie the balloon onto a string, and put a flame to it with a looong match. If you did it right, you get a fun explosion.

It all depends on the metal and the acid. I think that zinc and sulfuric acid makes hydrogen.

Yes! Hydrogen is what it makes. The flame adds oxygen, and you end up with water residue on the inside.

I did that a while ago and accidentally blew up my metal trash can, I threw it in the woods and for some reason my parents never noticed it missing.

I filled a balloon with MAPP gas and pure oxygen and put it in a plastic garbage can with a 2ft long blackmatch fuse tied to it, and rather than blowing the lid off like I thought it would, it blew the can into more than 20 pieces. I wouldnt play around with fuel/oxygen mixes carelessly.
