I don’t know about that experament_u2, I think a small bore cannon would be possible.
I wouldn’t put to much money into it thou. ½ inch SCH40 fits in two liter bottles, you can drill a hole in the cap and goop the pipe in the bottle cap so you can easily change the bottle… I just had a brain fart! Use a tee, the barrel off the 90 degree, the bottle at the bottom, and the mento on top were you can somehow drop the mento into the bottle,I’m too tired to figure it all out, I’ll let you do the math

I actuall thought about it but decided it wasn't worth it... but ya, it'd def work. I know it has enough pressure because I've seen mento's rocket go pretty high.
Movie dialogue: "The good die first."
Tom: "But most of us are morally ambiguous, which explains our random dying
patterns."

Such a gun will not produce satisfactory results.
While one is often taught that liquids don't compress, in all truth they do, although such is minimal. In your propelling force you want your 'fluid' force [Mind you as far as this discussion is concerned, gases are a fluid force] to have a high 'compressibility' [Yeah thats a real term]. Where as this cola mixture will not have this amount o f 'compressibility' you want. Man Ill be glad when this whole Cola - Mentos deal blows over...
I edited your title out of ALL CAPS. There is simply no reason for you to do this...

Wow, that post sucks...

If you ground the mentos up and somehow managed to release it in your chamber with no pressure loss. Their is alot better things you could do on teh same principles.

This would be good, why? It is possible, But you have to spend money on coke and mentos every time you want to fire it.
Here it costs:
$1.70 for a can of diet coke, $2.40 for a small bottle, $3.50 for medium and $4 for large.
Mentos is $1.20.
Think about that when your broke from sending somthing a possible 10 metres from this.

it may be weak and you'd have to used a ball valve in fact a ball valve is probely the best way to dispense mentos into soda but it may react too fast to build up presure. Make a gun with 2 valves or an S chamber, 1in valves should do so people don't have compressors and are looking alternitves for canons like steam powered or me and bb guns

You dont get it do you? It would be cheaper and easier to buy a bike pump rather than all this crap.

Such a gun would only work if you put a burst disc on it, but even then, the expansion of the liquid/gas is minimal, messy, and expensive.

He is from Australia and talking in there money system. None the less near 2$ for a shot is a waste. I don't see anything else beneficial pertaining to the 'Mentos' and 'Cola' powered launcher matter, shall we leave this thread to die...?
