Any ammunition suggestions for a barrel that is approx 6 1/8" in diameter?
The list so far:
Flower Pots
Coffee Cans (old big ones)
Cantaloupe
Pumpkins
Watermelons

The italicized items I don't care for due to cost.

Damn, thats a big barrel. Mind if I ask what it's attached to? :o Edit: Just read the thread about your 6" gun. Nice job.

My only decent idea would be to fill bags with sand, dirt, or gravel.
There's the obvious answer of "use wadding and/or a sabot and then cram anything that'll fit in there", but I don't think thats what you want to hear.

Your best bet might be to take some pipe the same size of your barrel, and use it as a mold to make slugs out of pycrete (sawdust and water frozen together, much harder than normal ice) or plaster of paris or concrete. I do this for my 1.5" and 2" barrels, no reason you couldn't do it with a longer one. Spray the inside of the pipe with lots of cooking grease to prevent the material from sticking to the pipe.

You could also make some nice re-usable ammo and try to recover it after each shot, but this only works if you have an open field to shoot at.

Hope that helps.

Peace,
Pete Zaria.

go to the dollar store u can by those cheap ones for a decent price

other ideas:
sabot a couple of dozen eggs w/paintballs aim and fire at a large flat surface, it should make a huge mess, and you should get the idea what kind of damage a 6" bore shotgun should make
Have you tried turnips, honey dew melons, logs or fabric softener jugs fillied with your ammo of choice?

Or you can revert to the old stand by potatoes, but stick the whole sac in

BTW were did you find the 6" pipe and I'd imagine a pipe that big would cost u a fortune
if it doesn't involve a loud bang it isn't powerful enough

Actually, the pipe probably wasn't too bad, but im betting the fittings must have really sucked. I think that you could use home made paper mache stuff, or fill a baloon with sand.

Yes, go with baloon based munitions. Them you could launch any liquid you see fit.

you could fill a basketball with cement like DR did or so Ive heard.
also:
Charmin giant sized toleit paper rolls they make great kerosene torchs that you should NOT shoot that is with kerosene
Juice jugs (the big bottles of fruit juices) I think it should fitt perfectly if 6 1/8" is the OD of the pipe and not the ID
bags of stuff
logs
babies :D
smaller spud guns

haha some of these ideas were very amusing! I will be shooting off old spudgun parts (old 3"-4" chambers with wadding). Balloons would probably break in the barrel and make a mess IN my cannon. Chickens are expensive and babies are controversial. "take out the trash the fun way" as kewl as it sounds, that would require having to pick up the trash AFTER the fun way.

I will be shooting this thing off on the weekend of the 17th and will get some better results as far as ammo. Thnx for the feedback! Any more ideas?

EDIT: to heavy: the pipe was free, I have access to thousands of feet of the stuff for free. The fitting was about $25 which was a bit of a pain.
