Around here it is pretty hard to get NH4NO3. The only source is cold compresses. So, KNO3 is cheaper for smoke devices...around here at least. But, if you have a good source, then you are just lucky, and I apologize.

H2SO4 is kinda expensive here also, but it's not really that hard to get. I know of at least 2 or 3 stores that carry it, and this is just on the outskirts of a pretty decent sized sized city (we were mentioned on SNL a couple times). And it is expensive here also. But, whatever, I'm tired.
I'm weird, I know it, you don't need to tell me.

:D the joys of smoke bombs eh, wen i was a kid i used to make a safer (nt as good) but safer version involving no heat, its a pretty forgiving mix but heres wat i did, mix equal parts kn03 + icing sugar then slowly add motor oil into it stirring constantly until you have a real gooey mix, i used to fill up coke cans with it and chuck a sulfuric fuse in there, i also used to bury em in sand at the beach for everyone to see 8), also just have a look around cause hardware and cleaning isles in shops just spell out pyro

I buy my potassium at UN.

It's not as fun as Potassium Nitrate in my opinion because Potassium Nitrate is cheaper and you can have more fun for the same price than if you bought a small amount of Potassium metal. Plus, Potassium is very pyrophoric, and I don't like having things that can randomly explode on me, even if they're stored under mineral oil in a metal can.

What I really feel like searching for, purchasing, and playing with is a few gallons of liquid Nitrogen.
