golf ball ammo with out special pipe

ive found that a golf ball with out the plastic outer coating will fit in your standard sch40 1 1/2" pipe you can find any where. My question is does any one have a good way of "striping" the plastic off. i was only able to make one of these "modded" golf balls, and it was due to the fact that it was so old that the plastic had dry rotted and began to crack off on its own.

i did that before but it wasnt exactly round when it was done..i used a sawsall....didnt turn out well but shot far

oo idk if they have them where u live...i think they are only in us but not sure...u could get one but in general its like a big motor powered hack,wood,metal, well it saws everything./..there is changeable blades and it is like a scroll saw....only protable and goes in and out really really fast...google it

o i see what your saying. we call it a reciporicating saw in ohio. I say this because i remember hearing that name being used before, but now understand what sawsall means "saws all" kinda like how a lot of people refer to a circular saw as a "skill saw" named after the company who made them popular.

Blowtorch? Seriously, it works extremely well for getting that outer white plastic off. You'd have to hold it with tongs and rotate it so it melted off evenly though. Does anyone know the composition of golf balls? Like if it's more solid on the inside or plastic all the way through?

Depends. Theyre rubber on the inside usually. some are liquid filled..... not cool............. the stuff inside them is toxic.....

try using a dremel tool if you have one, works real well with an abrasive disk.

I have these golf balls with clear outer coverings (they support breast cancer!) and they're pretty weak feeling, I think I might be able to get on of and try to remember how I did it. They kinda feel like they would be flexible, like a hard rubber, so I'm gonna attack it with a little mini sawsall of doom I have. I'll tell you if I ever get it off.

well ive already tryed melting it off and that only works with certain balls, most of ball's cores begin to melt with the shell. The method i use now is taking a finishing saw and cut a very shallow rim around the entire ball, then take a knife to pry up each hemisphere. The hemispheres seem to pop off easily but sometimes i have to use some needle nose pliers and peel them back.

I want to somehow find a way to perfectly remvoe each hemisphere in oder to make a mold to fill with bondo. The density of bondo sems to be high, so i think they might make good projectiles.

Out of curiosity, and due to lazyness, I ask: does anyone know the diameter of a golf-ball core?
I expect it'd vary a bit, but if someone with a pair of calipers wants to measure a few, that'd be nice.

i think you can go to any widespread golfball manufacuring company site or google golfball core [info] and get that pretty quickly. they may very a little but they all have to follow regulation sizes i am pretty sure so they should be alomst the exact same size. for what i know

GB's fly much better than spuds, watch out for ricochet!!
This time of year most golf courses are closed.
In thickets and wet spots there are tons of balls.
Go to the high end courses, rich people don't tend to look in the bushes.
I've gone looking 8-9 times recently and have 5 to 6 hundred.
Two full milk crates and half a pail.

Don't mess with sleaving 2" ,just buy the barrel.

Ok, I guess I messed up... should've googled.

That said, golfball core sizes arn't regulated, and the first couple pages listed diameters between 1.590" (supposedly the largest of solid balls) to 1.450"

Ack, some of those are sloppy
I still suggest using a sabot, so you can keep those dimples that they spent insane amounts of money designing.
