Easy, two pieces of PVC separated by a valve ( QEV, sprinkler, piston) and one is pressurized with air, C02, Nitro and then the other is your barrel. When the valve is opened, the propellant is released and rushes out through the valve and proceeds to accelrate the projectile (which was in the barrel) out into the world. Simple stuff. And in my opinion much better than combustions.

Why is it bad for someone to ask such a simple question? Wouldnt it be better to start them off with some general knowlege about what they are looking for and then tell them to research it? That way they ahve some idea of WHAT to look for rather than just sending them on their way.

My philosophy is: if you’re to dumb to know the basics and to lazy to figure it out on your own, then you do not have the commonsense and the responsibility required to safely use any form of cannon. Just because it’s made from pipe doesn’t mean that it’s safer than real cannon, but because it’s made from pipe it’s more dangerous than real cannon.

The more you yell at ‘em when they’re new and inexperienced the more competent they’ll be later.

First off its pieces, and second did you not just read the post directly above yours? This whole site is dedicated to spudguns, there are litteraly thousands of pictures of hundreds of guns and while each one may not be the one you want to build take an idea and run with it. If you are to lazy/incompetant to find information yourself then you might wanna find another hobby. Dont take it the wrong way. Just try and research things yourself ok?

I've never seen anything like this group. You have a ton of people here, and all they want you to do is read an archive of old messages. You guys watch reruns a lot too? Every time someone asks a legit question, you all spend more time bitching and calling names than answering the original question would've taken. Maybe it's just that no one knows jack, and instead of answering it, they refer to the hard work of others to give explanations? Who's lazy?

If no one ever gives info here, then all it becomes is "The Boohoo and Bitchfiles site!

Now, Pneumatics are very simple, 3 part, machines. No rocket science is needed. The gun or cannon will usually have a barrel, a reservoir to hold the air, and some sort of valve mechanism to seperate the two. You can start very simple with a ball valve (slow), or get intricate with some sort of pilot operated piston valve (fast) or a "burst disc" (fastest!).

I put in the speeds because this is very important for performance. The faster you can get the valve to open, the more impact on the world you're gonna make. A slow opening valve will result in your projectile leaving the barrel before the valve has fully opened. What you want is a "brick wall" of full psi air hitting the ammo instead of a slowly ramping up pressure.

BUT, start with a ball valve and learn the character of the beast before building up. It'll work fine and wonder why you diddled with Right Guard toys so long! Which, btw, pnuematics are dangerous, not the toys you see on youtube of these idiots shooting eachother with spuds. My 2" pneu would leave a howitzer sized hole in your best bud if you tried. I got vids to prove it if needed.

Phew, that was hard work and I missed my rerun of " I Love Lucy" while typing this! I guess I'll go see wazzup at spudshot, they give out info without asking for a billing address.
