Well maybe your barrel isn't straight and it hits a curve and then flies in a curve.

paintballs have a tiny seam on them, with the spinning of the paintball and the air moving over the seam as it flies the paintball will tend to curve a little. the bigger the seam the more it will curve. Also if the paintball is a little out of round it will fly funky as well. Any projectile that isnt subjected to rifling and isnt shaped like a bullet will probably deviate from a straight flight path, at least a little bit, over its time of flight.Add to that the fact that these barrels lack the rigidity of a steel rifle barrel so they will tend to flex when the shot is fired and they arent precisely straight either. Many things will affect a projectiles flight pattern, including a decrease or increase in velocity, the higher the velocity from the muzzle the more erratic the flight will be also.

If GGDT was intended for combustions, why is it called Gas Gun Design Tool?boilingleadbath wrote:A quick run-through with the GGDT indicates that those paint balls should be getting a speed of about 300 feet/sec... typical paintball velocities, if I remember right. (but remember that the GGDT is intended for combustions.
The curving is most likely a symptom of the paintball being launched spinning - magnus force effects.
I think you meant to say "GGDT is not intended for combustions.

Air IS a gas, as well as propane etc. Gas guns work on anything that doesnt fire the projectile with solid or liquid propelant.

Woops... little typo there.
'bout time I made one [winking smily face... OF DOOM]
... and don't those regulations on paintball velocity vary by feild? <but going on infrences drawn from a (2 year?) old conversation>
