Coke bottle strafer (short burst)
I had a crazy idea for a dirt-cheap plastic soda bottle bb strafer. Have a 3' barrel with the breach end epoxied closed, a few small holes drilled in the barrel about 1' from the breach end to let the air in. then glue the barrel in thru a hole a bottle cap, so that the air holes are just inside the bottle. Put a ball valve in the barrel right outside of the cap. Put a schrader valve through the bottom of the bottle. That's your gun.
How it works: load your bb's down the barrel. Close the ball valve. Pump the bottle up. Open the ball valve. The gun operates on the Vogt cycle, firing one bb at a time until they are all gone. It also owes the ball valve and the mag-in-chamber idea from Jack/FMJ. Then the rest of the air probably just gets vented. (Unless you wanted to put a second ball valve on the barrel, and then you could use the space between them as an 'air lock' to load bbs while there is still pressure in the bottle.)
In the States, 1/2" sch40 PVC pipe is available that fits nicely inside the mouth of your standard soda bottle. You could build the gun around that, giving it handles and a barrel shroud.

kool idea. just dont take the soda bottle up past 100 psi or else you will need a new bottle and new ear drums (soda bottles blow up at 120-130 psi)(and they are very loud) :thumbright:
2 litter soda bottles are ok at 100 psi...
i suspect smaller ones would be even better actualy
nice ideas

What's to keep the bb's from coming out that air hole? And I'd think the compresed gas would most likely escape from the same hole and rob power from the bb's.
EDIT: It also appears that you would really ned to line that ball valve up perfectly and quickly in order for them to pass through. That might be difficult.

yea nothing keeps bb's from going out back or through air hole, which is useless and acualy would be bad for performance if you were to put bb's behind it.Solo wrote:It's really quite simple. I drew up the basic thing w/o the 1/2" PVC housing I actually would probably use if I built it. Let's see if this works:
Edit: hooray, it does! It's kinda grainy, though, but I guess that ought to do.

or you could put a couple of small air holes behind the all of the bbs and then when you open the ball valve all the bbs come flying out at once like a shot gun :blob5: that would be cool

Or you could just leave a hole in the back of that tube. Put two tiny holes through it at the back and thread a thin piece of wire through and tie it to itself. This would prevent the bb's from exiting the back of the tube and allow for maximum airflow. That still doesnt solve the ball valve problem though.

no need for any extra holes, just make the magazine pipe of a slightly bigger I/D (say 8mm)
