Need help
yes, home depot should have all those things. lowes has the crappyest (and i do mean crappy) plumming section, home depot is a little better.
the absolute best place is a plumming store, they can help you right then and there. if you dont have a plumming store, then home depot will do just fine.
the only problem with home depot is they only have 2'' pvc, so the barrel yould have to be abs (the black pipe) the chamber absolutly positivly MUST be made of pvc or metal pipe, you CAN NOT use ABS as the chamber, it is ok as the barrel though. hom depot will have 3'' abs that you can use.
i simply cant stress it enough, if it is pressureized it CANT be mad of abs. the barrel is the ONE AND ONLY thing that can be abs

and just use the part's and sizes that other guy posted?
oh and if I were to just give that list to say a worker at a plumbing store, would I have to worry about getting the stuff and what not?

what is the exact kind of sprinker valve I should get?
and (I hope) one last thing, could you write out an EXACT parts list, sprinkler system, pipes, regulators, gauges and everything, EVERY LITTLE PART! I'll take this list and give it to a guy at a plumbing store and then once I have all the parts, I'll assemble it, but this list has to have EVERYTHING! FINAL LIST! Make it have a 2.5" barrel, if not 2.5" then 3". REMEMBER! EVERYTHING HAS TO BE ON THIS LIST! EVERY PART! parts for chamber, barrel, sprinkler system, and so forth.
At the moment, I want it to have a 2.5" barrel, but I want to be able to change it, if I ever shoot confetti or golf balls out of it. So make sure I can change barrels, but on the parts list, give it a 2.5" barrel.
ONE FINAL CHECK! THIS WILL BE A SEMI AUTOMATIC WITH A CHAMBER! NOT PLUGGED INTO THE AIR COMPRESSOR!

you should get a orbit water master 1'' sprinkler valve from home depot, thats where i got mine and it works great.
you will need...
1. some 2.5'' pipe for the barrel (about 2-3 feet)
2. a2.5'' to 1.5'' bushing
3. a 1.5 to 1'' bushing.
4. about 2 inches of 1'' pipe ( you will have to buy a foot, but you can cut it)
5. a 2.5'' coupler
6. 1'' threaded adaptor (4x)
7. a 1'' NPT nipple. (2x)
8. a sprinkler valve.
9. some 2 inch pipe for the chamber. ( if you are using compressed air, the longer the chamber, the more shots you will have)
10. a 2'' to 1'' bushing.
11. a 2'' end cap.
12. schrader valve, OR, a 1/4 ball valve and a quick release for a compressor.
13. 1/4'' bress nipple (2x)
14. a blow gun for a compressor (that is to mod the sprinkler valve with.
15. pvc cement and primer. note: you need both pvc glue and primer, you MUST use primer and a generous amout of glue, dont get cheap wih it, but at the same time try to be neat with it.
16. some JB Weld epoxy.
17. a pressure gauge that reads from 0-160 or 1-300 psi.
18. 2'' coupler
you will want to read up on solvent welding (gluing pvc is called solvent welding) and also look up how to mod a sprinkler valve in the how-to data base.
note: let all glue (including JB weld) dry overnight, dont take any shot cuts, it could cost you the entire project if you get cheap and sloppy.
test fit EVERYTHING before you glue it, plan everything and think before you do.
dont go over about 135 psi. you must understand that the sprinkler valve was intended for sprinklers, not for air cannons. draw the line at 130 psi or so. make sure that after you are done, try it out AT LEAST 50 times before you fire it into a crowd, dont want anything bad to happen. if you were smart you would buy 3 or four packs of epoxy and after you did a really good job with the pvc glue, you would use epoxy around the edges there the fittings are 24 hours later to be safe. use your own judgement and if you dont think its safe, dont use it. dont shoot it unless the person is about 100+ feet away. this is assuming you are launching nothing but tee-shirts, if you launch something hard it could hurt people for obvious resons. if its hard, dont shoot into a crowd.
if it blows up its not my falt, its yours. take every safty messure you possibly can.

ohh, and most likely they will NOT have 2.5'', so if they dont, any part that is 2.5'', make it 3''.
another thing, make sure that all pipe and fittings are nsf-pw pressure rated pipe. if it isnt pressure rated and doesnt say nsf-pw on it, DO NOT BUY IT!!!
EDIT- keep in mind that any air cannon is only as stong as the weakest part, so if the weakest part is only good to 100 psi, dont go past 100 psi.
also, if it is below 55 degrees F, the plasic will be brittle, so dont fire it. idealy it is about 70 degrees F outside. if its hotter than 95 degrees F, dont fire it.

Ok, sorry about all that, but I talked to the church and this is what they said:
semi auto
ran off of a co2 tank
2.5" barrel
the gun has to be able to have changeable barrels
What we are gonna do is since there is a paintball store 3 blocks away, we're just gonna buy about 3 or 4 tanks and have them filled, and if a co2 tank can shoot off about 30 shirts, then well just use one every 3 or 4 services.
So if somebody would be so kind as to copy that list above and make any modifications for it to run off of a co2 tank that'd be great.
Oh, and I wanted to know, once I get it all put together, how do I adjust how much co2 is used each shot?

Ok, without reading every single post in this thread, Im going to give my advice.
At our school football games, there is a guy which we have named horn-man who has a t-shirt cannon that he fires across the field before games.
This is a quick drawing of his design. The dementions depend on your t-shirts and such.
I believe he uses sch 40 black iron and a large regulated CO2/N2 tank. If you can only get a compressor, make the chamber a bit larger to compensate for lower pressures.
Before I get flamed for an overly simple design, let me just say this:
Everyone here is complicating the project.
This is a gun designed to launch t-shirts. It doesnt need a modded sprinkler valve/high preformance chamber-seal piston/flux capacitor.
Even if you screw it up the first time, this design will cost so little you could probably make a dozen with $500.

- The pipe he uses for the barrel is probably 3" pvc, for the chamber 2-1/2" iron

I need it to run off of co2, so tell be how to do that, with that design, and what are those 2 levers for? I need it to release so that it only releases a bit of the co2 so I can just shoot more off, I don't want to have to wait a few seconds for the chamber to fill, then fire off, just switch a one lever and it shoots out only so much co2.
I also want no levers, I want a trigger, like an airbrush for the trigger.

the "levers" are clearly labled ball valve because they are ball valves. it would work with that, but it would only be good for one shot.
you dont what ball valves, you want a sprinkler valve.
edit- it sounds like you should just buy a paintball gun and put a big barrel on it......

if I could get something to work like that, then that'd be great, plug in a co2 tank, and shoot off.
and a paintball gun has a bolt.
I don't care what it looks like, as long as I can hold it up, or with a strap on my back then I'm cool.

yes a paintball gun has a bolt but its semi auto get a vl triad or a brass eagle striker or someother worthless cheap ass semi auto and mod it soo it shoots paintballs really fast (soo it shoots the heavier shirts at a decent speed) then stick a fatter barrel on it. firing goes like this cock gun screw in co2 shove t shirt down barrel pull trigger shove shirt down barrel pull trigger keep firing till u run out of gas

edit: bah everyone beat me to the reply.
@hi: please explain why you think ball valves wont work.
Ok, heres how it works:
(you will need to buy a regulator for your co2 tanks)
Set the reg to the desired pressure, and attach the hose to the quick connect.
The two levers are part of the ball valves. look'em up if you havent seen one before.
Load a shirt down the muzzle
Open the first valve(the one by the inlet) and your chamber will be pressurized.
Then open the second valve. Put as much snap in your wrist as you can when opening, so the pressure is released into the barrel all at once.
Experiment and you will quickly find the best pressure to use to get an optimum power/number of shots ratio.

well, I just want it to be air powered, no bolt.
If anybody has any idea on how to re-create anything like that, then please tell me.

do you absolutly have to use co2? you could use one of those portable air tanks at home depot for 40 dollers or so and just wear it on you back, the have a hose run from that to the sprinkler valve and then to the barrel.
its simple cheap, effective, and yes, it semi-auto. you could get about 30 shots off to.
