hi guys.

sorry if this is a dumb question, but i was wondering what the average ranges were for different kinds of bb guns. i am not particularly interested in compressor linked guns, just the portable/hand pump guns.

if you could, i would also like information on why these ranges(average) are reached (eg, pressure, barrel length, chamber size, valve etc.)

thankyou in advance, and if anyone needs any more elaboration on my question, just ask.

The best answer would be, what range do you need? We could then give you the necessary specifications of a launcher that would satisfy your requirements.

Also worth noting that power is nothing without accuracy - it's no use reaching out 300 feet if you can't hit what you're aiming for.

Heh.. my red rhyder would sometimes shoot 6 inches off from 15 feet away- while clamped in a vice!
Yes, it is fairly new and oiled.

Geez. I don't know the model of my gun at the moment, but I'm pretty sure it's a Daisy. I'll check when I get home. All I know is it's about 15 years old at least and I can hit a coke can from 25 yards all day long.

Yeah, my gun is like paiyans, 'cept its a Crosman (Crosmans rule, Daisies suck) But, anyways it can shoot for at least 100 yards unobstructed and not being aimed, and im accurate to about 75 feet or so.

GGDT is Gas Gun Design Tool - it´s a program that allows you to predict the performance of a pneumatic launcher by inputing design parameters.

it can be downloaded here: http://www.thehalls-in-bfe.com/GGDT/

What sort of performance are you looking for? single shot/full auto? Do you have an air compressor?

Maybe you should do some reasearch on an inline vortex gun or, i your look distance, maybe a one shot plinker, like the entry in the Air soft/paintball in the competition.

what sized barrel are ya gonna use? what size chamber? what pressure?

ok nuff questions, i cant give you a range for my gun but its accurate at 30m with about 5-6" grouping with lead sinkers 8)

and as ev1 else suggested, get the GGDT, it help giving guesstimates on this stuff.

peace

thanks for the answers guys, yeah, im kinda lookin for a one shot plinker.

id prefer to stay away from compressor guns, so i will have to settle for less power and range.

i was thinking of making a semi-auto plinker using a bladder system for the chamber, it would kinda act as a built in regulator.

The bladder would expand from pumping, and after each shot, contract, thereby keeping the compression rate roughly the same until the end.

does anyone think this is possible?

thanks again for all your answers, they were very helpful
