I was thinking on putting AA batteries in my 3\4" handle to run a fan. The problem was getting all of them in there. Flone and I were talking about this. He mentioned having a 12 volt battery in his garage door remote. I have one of these batteries. It's a 23A 12 volt. It's shorter than a AA battery. I was wondering if any one has tried one to run there fan and how long they would last. I hooked one to a fan and it ran it at a good clip. I wouldn't be using it to power my igniter. Just the fan.

You can use a 9-volt to run most fans.
I have a 60mm that has run for about 30mins from a 9-volt.
you could also use AAA batteries, they're smaller and will fit better.

I've had trouble powering the stun circuit.
Two have burned out on me. By trying to give the fan 12v I burn out stunner.
Next time I'm going to have two batterys , 9v for spark and 12v for fan.
There must be a way to reduce the voltage from 12v to9v so I can one battery pack to power both.
What would that be? A resister ? Some thing simple to put in line before stun circuit. Any input would help, Keep it simple.

Shove a resistor in one of the connections to the stun gun circuit.

So get a 24ohm resistor or a couple of resistors to make up 24ohms and stick it in series on one of the power wires to the stungun circuit.

Fan and spark in parallel, the spark in series (taken from above) with 24ohm resistor. Switches on both circuits, so either can be operated independent from each other with only the one cell.

A resistor in series with the stun gun won't drop the voltage to the level you want unless you know exactly what the input impedence of the stun gun is. Note that the stun gun has an input impedence and not an input resistance since the current draw is not continous as the stun gun is an oscillator.
Assuming the stun gun is a 9 volter, by far the easiest solution is to just run both the fan and stun gun from a 9V battery. A 12V fan works fine at 9V. If total power is a problem, e.g., running the fan draws too much current and the stun gun won't work with what is left, then use two or more 9V's wired in parrallel.
Another option is to use a 9V regulator, such as an LM7809, to drop the 12V down to 9V. Pretty simple to do but really a lot more complex than is needed.

My remote setup on my cannon which is seprete from the cannon on 25 feet of network cable and runs both my fan and my stun gun at 12 volts at 3 amps and it hasen't burnt it up yet. And thats with a power plug for my notebook and it work's in the field off of a 12 volt power wheels battery and I think it is rated at 12 volts 9 amphours and the stun gun still works.
It's just a quick tap of the button so I don't see what the problem would be with 12 volts. You don't have to take my word for it, other's and mabe you might have a different stun gun than me, which is a 650KV cheetah stun gun gutted (no inside's but the sparker part) I tryed mine on 9 volts first and all it did was wine, I hit it with 12 volts and it worked. Oh yea I think that stun gun's need at the least 1 amp of power too. Which could be most people's problems. But that is my point of view but I am just trying to help

or you could just toss the stun gun thing and try out an ignition coil...
they run on 12v, big sparkes too.
