nope, it also steps up the amps.

if it is a 25amp ESC, the it draws a maximum of 25 amps from the battery, even if its a 1000 mAh batery. if it did work off of the 1000 mAh that it was rated at, then it wuld last for exactly 1 hour, but since the esc steps up the amps, it only runs for a few minutes if you just run the motor.

think of what its rated at as kinda like and engine idoling, but when you run it through an ESC, then its like steping on the gas in a car.
ECS's don't have the size to carry the nessicary hardware to be a transformer as well as control the speed of a eletric motor.

Does anyone here play real airsoft? Not just make their guns... Because honestly, the motor is the easiest thing to replace... Does the gun make any sound when charged, and shooting? If not, either motor, battery, wiring, or fuse. If it makes a scraping/ whining noise, it could be something like the gears, or spring. Just help me diagnos the problem...

@Hi
I'm pretty sure the esc just gives you very fine throttle control. There is no need to have a transformer running the motor.
I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be without sponges.
Right now I'm having amnesia and deja vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before.

i never said that you needed a transformer.... what are you taking about? we are getting off topic. are you taking about an electric car? if so then the "trasformer" is just a giant esc.

They have the long type motor I need from airsoft atlanta for $20, but they are sold out currently. When I charged the battery for 3 hours, and it still didn't become warm. I dont think its the gearbox that is messed up, for all the gears metal. My friend said it was the motor, but I wasn't quite sure.

it really easy to check that. just cip on a volt meter and pull the trigger and see what the meter reads. if the meter doesnt read anything, then it is the ESC and needs a new one. if it does read anthing that seems resonable but the motor doesnt turn, then you have a bad motor. its really easy to check. and will take 30 seconds.

You said that the esc steps up the voltage and amps, and that is what a transformer does. And yes, we are getting very off topic.

well then on a car it called something else, it like te difference between a one type of bottled water and a nother type of bottled water, they are the same thing.

anyway, ya just check it with a volt meter

My uncle has a volt meter, I will have to talk to him to use it.

It doesn't make any noise at all when the battery is charged and in the gun.

hi wrote:no, i can almost garentee you that the motor is fine, and if its not then dont wast money on an "ultra high power motor", becaus the exact same motor can be purchesed at a RC airplane store for under $15.

my guess is that the speed controler is burn out, the thing that conroles the electricity from the battery to the motor. just srait electricity from the battery can NOT run the motor, the controler steps up the amps and gives it more power, so thats is probably burn out and can replaced for almost nothing.

hope i helped.

also, check al the switches, bateries, and anything else with a volt meter
What does the speed controller thing look like? I think I know what you are talking about but I am not quite sure.

I had a slow @$$ charger I think. I didn't charge the battery long enough.
I got my battery tested and it's output was fine. I oiled up the gun and it worked great. I might just put in a PDI 120% spring to keep the firing rate smooth. All I am after is reaction time and firing rate.
