rocket ignition?

I made sweet rockets but they tend to blow up here and there so I want to be far far away from them, I see videos where people put wires in the rockets and then put a battery on the other side. I tried this and nothing happened. Can Someone help me with my setback? Anyone know how to make rocket igniter? / Fuses/something cool that won't kill me?

I live in USA so I don't know the metric system I know the english system of measure. Can someone convert these metric measurements(e:g milliliters, grams) into english measurements (e:g Pounds, Cups)

Here in Jersey its illegal to use the green fuse for your rockets till your 18(to buy them) so I buy the electonic ignitors, they work really good and there are certin engines that can only use thoses.

Just go to AC morres (if there by you) and they have that stuff or you can go to a hobby shop and get them.

take a good light bulb (preferably the big spot light kind but any kind should work) smash it without destroying the filament. remover the filament gently wrap it around a match or some black powder fuse. then attach an alligator clip to each end of it and run long wires to a safe distance. connect the ends of the wire to a 9 v battery the tungsten filament should quickly heat up to be hot enough to lignite the fuse (5 sec or so). yay ghetto ignition system

Jrrdw I didnt mention it because they closed the forum. The reason it was closed was for the most part only spuzi and myself logged onto the forum and we where swamped by evil spammers (I hate em I hate em I hate em I hate em I mean I really hate them.)
