What is the operating voltage?

3x 9 volts = 27 volts?

EDIT: Operating voltage is 24 volts, So 3x 9-Volt batteries should work fine.

And to operate both Valves, just have them both hooked up to the 3 batteries.

So, no you don't need 6, just 3. (THINK!)

But it is highly recommended that you mod them, It makes it much faster!

Yes, it will work fine. The solenoids trigger fairly briefly on a spudgun shot, so you should be good for quite a while with 3 fresh batteries.
